Extension of the support in the Foster Care Service implementation

Beginning with April 2010, EveryChild Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, will extend the support offered to local public authorities in the implementation of the Foster Care Service in other 9 raions of the republic. EveryChild will offer technical support to specialists of Social Assistance and Family Protection Sections/Departments, members of Gate-keeping commissions, representatives of Finance Departments, community social assistants, and other relevant local actors, in the Foster Care Service development and implementation, building all local capacities in the prevention of child separation from family and child institutionalization. The local authorities will also be supported in the process of budgeting the Foster Care Service and in retargeting resources to other social assistance sectors. Besides, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, a service monitoring framework will be developed.

We should remind that EveryChild launched the project “Supporting local authorities of Moldova in delivering alternative family-type services to children, lacking parental care” in April 2009, covering initially 12 raions of the Republic of Moldova. Within current extension, the SAFPD teams from 5 out of the 12 mentioned local authorities, who budgeted funds for further service development in this year, will continue receiving support this year from EveryChild Moldova.
