A new training module

In January, 2010 EveryChild Moldova have trained around 100 local public authority representatives: such as social assistants, specialists in the aged people problems and child’ rights protection, in psycho-social counseling and education, as well as local NGO leaders and volunteers from 10 rural and urban areas of the country. The training was provided within “Strengthening community-based support to multigenerational households left behind by migration in Moldova” funded by European Commission – UNDP implemented by HelpAge International in consortium with Second Breath NGO from Balti.

Action teams created within this project in 10 sites from the south and north of the country with the view of processing the cases referred by the volunteers have received a three day training performed byEveryChild trainers’ mobile group. The programme was focused on the development of specialized competence within civil society and state authorities to provide families left behind by migration with efficient support as well as enhance intergenerational bonds between the elderly and children.

Training course was structured and delivered in three modules: typical problems and specific character of interpersonal relationship in multigenerational families and ways of enhancing intergenerational solidarity; social protection of child’s and the aged people’s rights; the elderly and children’s physical and mental health and recommendations on overcoming the problems.
