Centre for Temporary Placement of Children

Goal:
Improve the life chances for street children, by providing them with care in a secure and protective family environment.

Objectives:
- Reorganize the Center for temporary placement of children in a child-friendly service, focused on social assistance, by the end of 2005;
- The institutions in charge with children’s rights’ protection collaborate efficiently and show commitment to meet street children’s needs and protect their rights.

Expected outcomes:
- The premises of the Center renovated (to create a more friendly environment for the children);
- New regulations, stipulating the reorganization of services and focusing them on the child and social assistance, applied;
- Team of social assistants set up and integrated in the structure of the centre, and their professional skills developed;
- Mechanism for multi-disciplinary collaboration set up within the Centre and operational;
- A mechanism for inter-department collaboration is established;
- Public awareness campaigns designed and launched by the staff of the Centre.

Beneficiaries:
- Street children and their families.

Achievements:
The Reception Centre for Minors was transformed both legally and physically, into the Centre for Temporary Placement of Street Children (minors). The findings of the final assessment are shown below. This final assessment was carried out by “Axa Management Consulting” Company, at the request of EveryChild.
